Modern aesthetic medicine is changing. We are less and less interested in transforming faces, and more and more in stimulating them, regenerating them and helping them age better, preserving their proportions, their expression and their natural look.
With that philosophy in mind, at Sandro Flórez Medicina Estética y Capilar Avanzada in Bogotá we have introduced Ultraformer MPT, the latest generation of the well-known Ultraformer platform and one of the most advanced focused-ultrasound technologies currently available for non-invasive aesthetic treatments.
Its purpose is particularly interesting: to use focused ultrasound energy to work selectively at different depths, stimulate collagen remodelling and achieve a progressive improvement in facial firmness and definition, with no incisions and no surgery.
What is Ultraformer MPT?
Ultraformer MPT is a medical platform based on high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) that incorporates micro- and macro-focused ultrasound technology.
MPT stands for Micro-Pulsed Technology, an engineering evolution designed to deliver ultrasound energy precisely across different tissue planes. The energy is concentrated at specific points, at previously selected depths, creating controlled thermal coagulation points in the treated tissue.
That thermal response triggers biological mechanisms related to collagen contraction and remodelling, and to the progressive formation of new collagen.
This is why Ultraformer MPT is not simply about producing a superficial cosmetic effect: it aims to stimulate a biological response from the tissue itself.
What is Ultraformer MPT used for?
In properly selected patients, Ultraformer MPT can be built into protocols addressing some of the most common changes associated with facial ageing:
- Mild to moderate facial laxity.
- Loss of definition of the facial oval.
- A less defined jawline.
- Laxity of the submental area.
- Loss of skin firmness.
- Neck laxity.
- Fine lines and certain signs of ageing.
- Progressive decline in skin elasticity and quality.
One of the goals we find most interesting is redefining the lower third of the face, recovering a sharper transition between face and neck without artificially changing the patient’s features.
How does Ultraformer MPT’s HIFU work?
Imagine concentrating energy at exactly one given depth without having to cut the skin. That is one of the founding principles of focused ultrasound.
Ultraformer MPT offers cartridges able to work at different depths. For facial applications there are 1.5 mm, 2.0 mm, 3.0 mm and 4.5 mm options, plus cartridges for body treatments and a Booster system with additional settings.
Being able to select different depths allows the physician to design the treatment around each patient’s anatomy and particular needs.
And here lies a fundamental difference: Ultraformer MPT should not be used as an identical protocol for every face. Anatomical knowledge, a proper diagnosis of facial ageing and the choice of depths, energy, number and distribution of shots are all an essential part of the treatment.
What is new in Ultraformer MPT?
Ultraformer MPT is the latest generation of the Ultraformer family and adds Micro-Pulsed Technology to the possibilities of focused ultrasound. The platform allows different energy delivery modes and comes with multiple interchangeable cartridges for personalised treatments.
One of its most interesting innovations is precisely the MP mode, designed to deliver energy through micro-pulses.
The new platform also considerably increases treatment speed compared with previous generations. According to technical information from the manufacturer, CLASSYS, certain protocols can be delivered more than 2.5 times faster thanks to the new delivery system. That combines precision, multiple depths and greater efficiency in a single platform.
Ultraformer MPT for facial laxity: is there scientific evidence?
This question is fundamental. At Sandro Flórez Medicina Estética y Capilar Avanzada we believe a technology should not be adopted simply because it is new or fashionable: there must be a medical rationale behind it.
Microfocused ultrasound —the technology category Ultraformer MPT belongs to— has published scientific literature on its use for facial tightening and laxity.
A systematic review of 16 studies found objective improvements across different facial tightening parameters: in the pooled analysis of the investigator-assessed aesthetic improvement scale, roughly 92 % of the patients studied showed some degree of improvement at 90 days, although the authors themselves note limitations in the quality of the available evidence.
More recent literature is also interesting. A systematic review and meta-analysis including 42 studies found that approximately 89 % of patients showed some degree of global aesthetic improvement according to investigator assessment, while around 84 % reported some degree of improvement themselves.
These figures should be read carefully. They refer to microfocused ultrasound as a technology category, assessed with different devices, protocols and methodologies, and they are not guaranteed outcomes, nor were they measured specifically with Ultraformer MPT. Nor do they mean that 89 % of patients get a dramatic lift, or that everyone responds the same way: the response is individual and the evidence keeps evolving.
What they do show is that microfocused ultrasound has a growing body of scientific evidence as a non-invasive tool for improving skin laxity and tightening.
When do results start to show?
Ultraformer MPT works on biological processes that take time. Although some patients may notice early changes, collagen remodelling and formation continues to develop progressively after the procedure.
That is why we prefer to talk about progressive rejuvenation. The goal is not for the patient to walk out of the clinic with a different face, but for them to see, over the following weeks and months, an evolution in firmness, skin quality and definition of certain contours, according to their starting point and individual response.
Does Ultraformer MPT replace a surgical facelift?
No. Ultraformer MPT and a surgical facelift should not be considered equivalent procedures.
When there is severe laxity, significant skin excess or certain anatomical changes, surgery may still be the option with the greatest corrective capacity.
Ultraformer MPT is particularly attractive for patients with mild or moderate laxity who want to improve facial firmness and definition and prefer a non-surgical alternative. A proper medical assessment determines how far the treatment can go and sets realistic expectations.
Ultraformer MPT versus conventional HIFU
Although the word HIFU is commonly used for many different treatments, not all devices and not all HIFU technologies are the same. Ultraformer MPT is an evolution within that category: besides working at different depths, it incorporates Micro-Pulsed Technology, different delivery modes, multiple cartridges and a system designed for faster, more personalised treatments.
So when a patient is looking for a HIFU treatment in Bogotá, we think the question should not only be “how many shots will I get?”. There are more important questions:
- Which technology is being used?
- Who performs the treatment?
- Which depths does my face actually need?
- What is the diagnosis of my laxity?
- What result is reasonable to expect in my case?
Advanced technology, always under medical judgement
The arrival of Ultraformer MPT at our practice does not change one of our founding principles: the device never replaces the physician.
A face does not age only because the skin becomes lax. Over time, changes occur in several structures: skin, fat compartments, ligaments, muscle and bone support. That is why, before indicating a treatment for facial laxity, we need to understand what is ageing and why.
In some patients focused ultrasound can be an excellent option. In others it may be necessary to consider different strategies or combined treatments. And in some cases it will simply not be the right indication. Making that call is part of practising responsible aesthetic medicine.
Ultraformer MPT arrives at Sandro Flórez Medicina Estética y Capilar Avanzada in Bogotá
Bringing in Ultraformer MPT is another step in our ongoing commitment to innovation.
Our practice has always looked for cutting-edge treatments and technologies, but under one fundamental criterion: innovation with a medical rationale, scientific evidence and results we can assess objectively.
That is why we are now adding one of the most advanced generations of focused ultrasound available internationally to our rejuvenation protocols. A technology designed to stimulate collagen, improve firmness, fight laxity and redefine contours — without surgery, and respecting the natural look of every face.
You can see Ultraformer MPT alongside the rest of our treatments in the facial aesthetic medicine section.
Would you like to know whether Ultraformer MPT is right for you?
The first step is not the procedure. The first step is a diagnosis.
During the medical assessment we analyse the degree and distribution of laxity, skin characteristics, facial anatomy and each patient’s goals, in order to establish whether Ultraformer MPT is the right option and to design an individualised protocol.
Ultraformer MPT is now at Sandro Flórez Medicina Estética y Capilar Avanzada, in Bogotá.
